Even as the controversy and debate related to the political clashes between the CPI(M) and the BJP continued, Members of Parliament belonging to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) on Tuesday called on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The delegation presented a dossier that contained details of the CPI(M) workers killed allegedly by the RSS-BJP in the State. They demanded a comprehensive probe into the killings. The meeting with Mr. Jaitley came in the context of his high profile visit to the State capital where a RSS functionary had been killed. Mr. Jaitley had also put the blame on the State government for its failure to tackle political violence.
The CPI(M) had formally protested against the partisan manner in which Mr. Jaitley visited the house of the slain RSS functionary, while side-stepping a visit to the house of a soldier who was killed in Kashmir in his capacity as Defence Minister. The LDF MPs reportedly sought a meeting with the Prime Minister in order to set the record straight as far as CPI(M)-BJP clashes were concerned.
