"Stern action against those indulging in illegal sand mining"

: The will take stern action against those indulging in 'illegal sand mining' in the Union Territory, Minister M O H F Shah Jahan today said.

Talking to reporters after declaring open the office of Village Administrative Officer (VAO) in his constituency - Kalapet, the Industries and Minister said, "no effort will be spared to prevent illegal sand mining. Those indulging in illegal mining would also face stern action."


He further said the was now considering a proposal to take up sand quarrying.

He said the purpose of opening the VAO office in Kalapet was to ensure that people requiring certificates and other services of the Department would henceforth need not have to go to the town to procure the same.
