Both Houses of Parliament will hold a special one-day session to mark 75 years of the Quit India movement. While External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will lead the session in Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will lead in Rajya Sabha. Question Hour and Zero Hour are likely to be suspended.

The Maratha community in Maharashtra will take out a silent march in Mumbai.The rally is organised by the Maratha Kranti Morcha to demand reservation in government jobs and education for members of the Maratha community. The farmers’ core committee, spearheading the farmers’ agitation across Maharashtra, has lent its support. Meanwhile, Mumbaikars should brace for traffic chaos as the rally is expected to see massive participation. The Mumbai police has issued a travel advisory for smooth flow of traffic.

Scientists, researchers and students will take out a rally across cities as a part of the ‘India March for Science’. The rally is being organised to seek more funding for science and to promote scientific research. This comes after the global march on April 22 when a million people from the scientific community took out marches around 600 cities across the world demanding robust funding for scientific research and governmental policies guided by scientific evidence.
