Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital is getting more dengue-affected people now

TIRUNELVELI

As many as 24 of the 64 patients undergoing treatment for fever at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital (TVMCH) have tested positive for dengue.

Sources at the TVMCH said the hospital, which had been receiving a minimum of 15 dengue patients every week from Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kannikyaumari districts in March last, had once again started getting more patients suffering from fever.

The 24 dengue-affected patients, including four children, had been shifted to the ‘dengue ward’, the sources said.

“The treatment we’re giving to dengue-affected patients is the best as our doctors are well-experienced in handling these cases. Most of the dengue-affected patients are cured completely. Only in a few cases, we could not save the patients as they were brought to the TVMCH in the worst condition after the treatment they received somewhere else did not yield any positive result. If the patients have dengue symptoms, they should be rushed to the nearest government hospital or the TVMCH,” a senior doctor said.

Since the TVMCH had formed a Rapid Response Team for round-the-clock treatment of dengue-affected people, the patients would get effective treatment which would save their lives, the doctor added.
