Some 10 places in State received heavy rainfall on Wednesday

Several parts of the city received moderate rain on Wednesday. More rain can be expected on Thursday due to weather systems in the State’s vicinity.

Neighbourhoods in Amberpet, L.B. Nagar and surrounding areas located towards the east of the city recorded more rainfall than rest of Greater Hyderabad. In most places, rainfall started before daybreak on Wednesday and continued through early hours. Following a let-down late in the morning, intermittent rainfall was recorded late afternoon. Amberpet recorded close to 11 cm on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Weather officials said rainfall was scattered across the city on Wednesday. This resulted in water-logging and traffic chaos on main carriageways.

Close to 10 locations in the State recorded heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Khammam recorded the maximum rainfall of 10.8 cm.

Weather systems that are causing the rain in the State are expected to bring more rain on Thursday before weakening during the remainder of the week. The current spell of rain has significantly lowered maximum temperature in Hyderabad. The city recorded 24.8 degree Celsius on Wednesday, a sharp five degree drop from normal temperature for this time of the year.
