[India], Aug 08 (ANI): A village sarpanch was killed by the Maoists in Odisha's Koraput district's Hatibari village on Tuesday suspecting him to be an informer of the police.

After killing Jaganath Khara, the Maoists left a poster in the village with warning for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik that the Maoists are planning to loot mines of this area.

The name of Srikakulam - Koraput Divisional committee of the banned CPI (Maoist) was written on the poster.

The Moist party has requested all the Police, home guards, securities, the Special Police Officer (SPO) and the police informer to leave their service and join Maoist party for the cause of Adivasi and their rights for Jal (Water), Jungal (Forest), Zameen (land).

Meanwhile, Koraput Superintendent of Police (SP) Kunyar Bishal Singh told the media that the deceased sarpanch was not a police informer. The Maoists are killing the innocents in frustration as the police are taking action against them and they want to terrorise the villagers. (ANI)
