A housewife committed suicide after her husband refused to give her money to buy a rakhi for her brother in Belagavi on Monday.
Mahadevi Gollar (23) was found hanging at her house in Wadagaon. She had married Ashok Gollar against her parent’s wishes and Ashok held a grudge against her brothers.
“He told her that he hated her brothers and refused to part even with Rs. 10. He told her to do whatever she wanted to. She felt dejected and decided to end her life,’’ a police officer involved with the investigation said. Police suspect Ashok was drunk during the quarrel with his wife. A case has been registered in the Shahapur police station.
