Navi Mumbai: Rakshabandhan for Kamal Parshuram Shinde (43), who was on her way to visit her brother at Kharghar, turned fatal when a NMMT bus knocked down the bike she was riding pillion on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at Belpada when Ms. Shinde, a resident of Sector 4 in Koparkhairane, was on the bike of her house owner Dilip Gole.
While Mr. Gole sustaind serious injuries, Ms. Shinde suffered head injury and died on the spot.
Sagar Avhad, driver of the NMMT bus route number 71 going to Kalyan via Kalamboli-Taloja road, was arrested by the Kharghar police for rash driving and negligence.
