Rachakonda Police booked a case against two persons for flying a drone during an event on Sunday in Nacharam.

A police constable noticed the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capturing an event organised by a popular school in the area.

Use of UAVs is prohibited and any use requires permissions from several authorities including Director General of Civil Aviation, Air Navigation Service Provider, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs among others, Rachakonda Police informed.

In Sunday’s incident, those permits were not procured, leading to a case against the two persons, including one person connected to the school management that used the drone to capture a cycle rally.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat also informed that use of drones by civilians has been banned since October 2014.

Despite the ban, their use is rampant at social gatherings.

The police registered a case under Section 188 for disobeying the order of a public servant.
