The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has set up a Legal Services Clinic at Christian Medical College Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) centre.
S. Ananthi, Principal District Judge and chairman of DLSA, inaugurated the centre on Monday.
According to DLSA officials, the clinic would extend legal services to HIV affected persons. “They can approach the legal services clinic for redress of their grievances, if any. If their legal rights such as dwelling rights at home and for partition of property are affected, they can approach the clinic. We will also provide them information on government schemes and concessions available for them through the District AIDS Control Society,” an officer said.
At the CMC’s ART centre, a room has been allotted for the Clinic. DLSA would depute a lawyer and para legal volunteer who would be available on Tuesday and Thursday every week between 10.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m.
