A new website created by an Indian- origin entrepreneur to help tennis players connect with each other in the has received the backing of easyGroup's founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

Ganesh Rao's concept for easyTennis won 10,000 pounds in the company's competition to create new "easy" brands recently.

The website helps keen sportspeople find someone with whom to play tennis, matching players on the basis of skill level, location and availability.

The finished product was launched in last week and has already attracted 3,500 people to sign up to the site, which has been likened to popular dating site Tinder.

"Tennis is a great sport but it's no fun if you've got nobody to play with," said Rao.

"Frustrated that I couldn't find anyone I tried joining a tennis club but unless you 'knew' people there I actually had the same problem - just an expensive one," he said.

Rao, who is also the founder of a laser eye and cosmetic comparison site RightClinic.Com, wanted to make the sport of tennis more accessible with his latest venture.

EasyTennis costs members 2.99 pounds per match-up, with the first match up being offered for free.

"easyTennis is a great way to meet new friends and improve your game. It's also a great fit with our 'easy' brand values - taking on the posh, expensive clubs and making tennis more accessible and affordable. Definitely for the many - not the few," said Stelios.

From October, easyTennis will also enable members to book and pay for club and council courts online.

In the longer run, Rao also has plans to take the concept UK-wide and introduce an easyTennis app and organise leagues, tournaments and social events.
