14 new hydroelectric projects in State

Minister for Electricity M.M. Mani told the Assembly on Tuesday that 14 new hydroelectric projects with an installed capacity of 116.5 MW will be set up in the State.

Replying to questions in the House, the Minister said the government had asked the Kerala State Electricity Board to commence the works on the Pallivasal extension scheme (60 MW), Thottiyar (40 MW) and Chathankodunada-2 (6 MW) hydroelectric projects that got stalled during the previous UDF regime.

Minister for Industries A.C. Moideen, in reply to a question, told the House that 10 State public sector undertakings had become profitable during 2017-18.

As many as 18,786 industrial units with an investment of ₹1,929.02 crore had started after the present LDF government came to power. The Minister said these units had been able to give employment to 75, 503 people.
