City based Samana Institute of Design Studies (SIDS) will henceforth use only handloom fabrics for all its public fashion shows, said its Chairperson, Samana Hussaini. Students of the Institute celebrated the National Handloom Day in the presence of woman police officials including ACP K. Sravani and CI Sahera Begum. Wife of Commissioner of Police D. Gautam Sawang, Shilloi Sawang, former MP Ch. Vidya were present. “We will also support the handloom fabric by using it for all designing purposes,” Ms. Samana said.
Ms. Shilloi stressed the need for encouraging handloom fabric and called on students not to forget our weavers and heritage.
Ms. Vidya said khadi would be promoted through exhibitions. “On October 2, we, along with SIDS would organise khadhi exhibition to promote the fabric,” she said. About the Mahila Rakshak imitative, Ms. Vidya said the SPs of Anantapur and Vizianagaram were also planning to set up such units in their districts to bring down eve-teasing cases.
