Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today announced that former India women's hockey captain Sumrai Tete will be the brand ambassador for Jharkhand hockey.
He said that Tete would be given the responsibility to train state level hockey players, an official release said here.
The announcement was made while felicitating Tete.
Tete, who has got the Dhyanchand award, has given her consent, the release said.
The chief minister directed the secretary and director of sports that special focus for hockey was needed for Simdega, Gumla, Khunti and Lohardaga districts while football for all the six districts in the Santhal Pargana region and archery for the districts in the Kolhan region.
Sports would be developed only when the players are given professional coaching and facilities, Das said.
