Sirsa announces Rs 1 lakh aid to families of 3 men died of

Legislator from Rajouri Garden assembly constituency Manjinder Singh Sirsa today announced to give a financial aid of Rs one lakh to the families of each of the three workers who died here while cleaning a sewer line.

Sirsa, a Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD)-legislator, said that the amount was "meagre" but he expressed hope that it will provide some relief to the affected families.


"The amount is meagre but I am pained to learn about the tough times faced by the families of the three persons. Others should also come forward to help them," he said in a statement.

The workers died allegedly after inhaling toxic fumes while cleaning a sewer line in Lajpat Nagar yesterday.

The Jal Board (DJB) that looks after cleaning of sewers has ordered a probe into the incident.

Two of the deceased were identified as 32-year-old Joginder and 28-year-old Annu, while the identity of the third victim was yet to be ascertained, police said.
