Residents clear tree from highway to ease traffic

The traffic on the Uppinangady-Subrahmanya state highway was disrupted for three hours after a huge tree fell on the road at Periadka near Uppinangady on Sunday.
A huge Devadaru tree fell on the road at 6 am on Sunday, following heavy rain. The local residents informed the police and the Forest Department officials, but the Forest Department officials failed to reach the spot even after three hours.

‘Self help’

As a result, Gram Panchayat member U K Ibrahim pressed to service a tree-cutting machine. The local residents themselves cut the branches to clear the road to facilitate the movement of the vehicles.
