Heavy rainfall likely in north Bengal districts for 5 days

The department today forecast heavy rainfall in sub-Himalayan districts of for the next five days, with the intensity likely to increase from Wednesday.

The sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar many receive heavy rainfall till Tuesday, the regional department said.


After this, the intensity would increase to very heavy rainfall in isolated places in these places of north Bengal.

The southern districts of the state in Gangetic West Bengal, which received light to moderate precipitation in some places since yesterday, are likely to remain cloudy for the next few days with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.

The metropolis has remained generally cloudy with one or two showers, recording 9.4 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 AM today, the weatherman said.
