more-in

The green army, the city Corporation’s initiative with school-college students, to create awareness among the city residents of the importance of waste treatment at source, will begin its work from the Thycaud ward.

The training for this was conducted over the past few days at Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School. The green army’s functioning will be widened with the help of the NCC and NSS.

The students have been trained in the various techniques of waste treatment at home and segregation of waste and sensitised to the harmful effects of burning waste. The Corporation plans to train more students in the coming days to expand the green army to the other wards too. The training programmes are being led by voluntary groups like Sahridaya, Care to Others, Make A Difference, Recycle Bin, Prakrithi, and others.
