ACB detains six RTO personnel, recovers Rs 16,000 in cash

In a pre-dawn raid, Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today recovered an unaccounted amount of Rs 16,000 from a regional transport office patrolling team and detained two inspectors, four guards and a tout in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off about an patrolling team was allegedly extorting money from drivers of overloaded trucks on Kota-national highway, an ACB led by Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB, Kota raided it and recovered Rs 16,000 from two inspectors, a senior ACB official said.


The two inspectors along with four guards of and a tout were detained and released later in the day after questioning, while a tout managed to flee, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), ACB, Kota, Chandrasheel Thakur said.

The ACB personnel, disguised as villagers, were deployed in Baba Ramdev Bhandara tent at Kunhari circle. They kept a close eye on the patrolling personnel, the ASP said, adding that following verification of the complaints, the ACB sleuths raided the team at around 4.30 am.

During the search, an accounted amount of Rs 16,000 was recovered from beneath the front seat of an patrolling vehicle, he said

It was also found that the two inspectors, identified as Ramnivas Yadav and Tan Sukh, had challaned only vehicles through the night, four by Ramnivas and one by Tan Sukh.

Also, they were extorting money from overloaded vehicles through four guards and two touts and at intervals send the collected amount to different place with the help of two touts, the ASP said.

The patrolling team had been extorting Rs 500 to Rs 2000 from drivers of overloaded trucks and in return did not gave receipt, he added.

Six personnel and the tout, following interrogation, were released later in the day, he said, adding that the matter would be sent to the ACB headquarters to get permission to initiate further proceeding against them in the matter.
