Mahindra’s SmartShift enters Chennai
SmartShift, the digital mobility start-up from $19 billion Mahindra group, is planning to go pan India in the next two years, said a top official. “We are currently present in four cities and today, we are entering Chennai,” said Kausalya Nandakumar, CEO, SmartShift. “We will geographically expanding our footprint to 29 cities soon.”Funded by the Mahindra’s group, the digital marketplace for intra-city logistics connects cargo owners and transporters for on-demand logistics requirement either through mobile app, website or call centre. It offers intra-city logistics services through three wheelers, mini truck and pick-ups. The aim of the SmartShift is to make daily logistics requirement of SMEs at least 30% more efficient. Asked how they were different from the existing players, Ms. Nandakumar said they have introduced a ‘Reverse Bidding’ feature, which allows the cargo owners and transporters to close the deal at a mutually acceptable price.
