Says such attempts will not be permitted at any cost

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that certain quarters are trying in vain to threaten the government.

The Chief Minister was inaugurating a public meeting held in connection with the valedictory function of the 33rd State meeting of the Kerala Police Association in Adoor on Saturday.

According to him, Kerala is a State with a better law and order situation in the country. But, the intolerant communal forces were unleashing violence with a ‘‘hidden agenda’’ to create an impression of law and order crisis in the State, he alleged.

Mr. Vijayan said such kind of attempts aimed at vitiating the otherwise peaceful atmosphere in the State would not be permitted at any cost. Citing study reports of various agencies, the Chief Minister stressed that the people of Kerala had been experiencing the best law and order under the LDF rule.

Even Union Minister Ramadas Athwale had cited Kerala as the safest State for Dalits in the country. But, certain quarters were making conscious attempts to foment trouble in the State, he said.

The law and order situation in Kerala was very much safe at a time when attacks on people in the name of food and caste had become the order of the day in various other States, the Chief Minister said.

He said stern action would be initiated against those who were making attempts to destroy the peaceful coexistence in the State.

Fisheries Minister J. Mercikkutty; Chittayam Gopakumar and Raju Abraham, MLAs; Superintendent of Police Satheesh Bino; KPA office-bearers T.S. Baiju, P.T. Anilkumar, D.K. Pritviraj, N.J. Prakashlal, and T.N. Aneesh; spoke.
