The Kochi City police will arrest more students of Maharaja’s College in connection with a clash that broke out on the college campus on Friday.
“The remaining 45 students involved in the clash have been identified and they will soon be taken into custody,” said K. Lalji, Assistant Commissioner of Police. He rejected reports on the involvement of outsiders in the clash.
Police officers injured
About eight police officers, including Mr. Lalji, suffered injuries when students flung beer bottles and stones at them during the clash. Following this, the students were slapped with Section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.
The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday sent the 14 accused in the case to judicial custody. The under-aged person, who was among the accused, was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
