Police believe it’s a case of suicide; parents allege foul play, stage protest

Two schoolgirls who were reported missing on Wednesday, were found dead with multiple injuries on their bodies close to the railway track near Vaiyampatti in the district on Thursday.

The Government Railway Police probing the case believe that A. Radhidevi and V. Selvi had ended their life as a ‘suicide note’ was reportedly recovered at the spot. The death of the girls, both aged 14 and Class 10 students of a government high school, shocked the parents and the villagers who blocked the road, triggering tension at Vaiyampatti all through the day.

Suicide note

The parents and relatives demanded that the details of the alleged suicide note be revealed to them and the culprits responsible for the deaths be arrested.

The two girls left school on Wednesday evening but did not return home, said Annie Vijaya, Superintendent of Police, Government Railway Police, Tiruchi. The harried parents of the girls informed the police and went in search of the minors. However, the two girls could not be traced. Railway police sources said the bodies of the girls with multiple injuries were found lying close to the railway track near Vaiyampatti on Thursday morning by the locals. Their school bags were found nearby. On receipt of information, Ms. Vijaya inspected the spot and conducted inquiries. The local police also lent support to the investigations by the Railway Police.
