Eight packets of heroin weighing around 4.5 kg were seized today in a joint operation by the Amritsar-based STF and the BSF near an outpost along the Indo-Pak border in Ferozepur Sector, officials said.
Besides, one .30 bore pistol with three magazines and 56 live cartridges were also found buried in a field along with the drugs, they said.
The raid was carried out after the BSF received an information from the Special Task Force (STF) on a consignment in the area, the officials said.
BSF officials here said the consignment was wrapped in a yellow coloured polythene and buried in a field in Mamdot.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law and the matter is being investigated, they said.
