The C-segment sedans are all set to see some action very soon as the new generation Hyundai Verna is all set to be launched later this month on 22nd August 2017. While dealers were accepting bookings since last month, Hyundai India has now officially announced the pre-bookings for the new Verna till 21st August. The new-gen Verna can be booked for an amount of ₹ 25000. The all-new sedan will be a big step-up from the current generation version, with more features, more power and better driving dynamics as well. The car will be competing against some highly established offerings including the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. Hyundai will also be looking for redemption in this segment, having been leading the sales figures for a couple of years in the past.

The new generation Hyundai Verna was first unveiled in China last year and is already on sale in a number of markets and we'll finally see it hitting Indian shores. The pre-bookings will last till August 21, 2017 and the launch will take place on the next day. There's a lot to look forward to in the new-gen Verna and one of the things we're waiting for is to see it in the flesh. We say this because the styling has evolved from Hyundai's current crop of sedans and the influences from the new-gen Elantra are very much there. The Indian version will be similar to the international spec one we saw last year and one can expect the premium design theme to be continued on the model.

Under the new metal work, the new generation Hyundai Verna is underpinned by the all-new 'K2' platform. Hyundai India says the new platform offers better handling than the outgoing version. There will also be be a host of new features on the car including LED daytime running lights with projector lens headlamps, LED tail lights, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Dual airbags will be standard on trims with the top variants to get more than two airbags, while there will also be ventilated front seats. The latter is a segment first feature!

Engine options will include the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options while transmission options will include the 6-speed manual and automatic. The latter will be a torque converter unit rather than the CVT or AMT units seen on other offerings in the segment.
