Karma is a Sanskrit word, often used in the spiritual context of cause and effect – the English equivalent of ‘as you sow, so you reap’. Good deeds contribute to good karma and is said to lead to the ultimate salvation and bad deeds to bad karma, which is supposed to usher boundless suffering. Therefore, to attain salvation, one has to do good deeds always, which is easier said than done, in an age where it is tough to be good, consistently. And moreover, one important question persists: how does one define whether something is good or not, whether it is black or white or falls in the grey area; after all one man’s meat is another man’s poison.
