Students demand building for college

more-in

Several degree students of the Government First-Grade College in Kengeri have their classrooms in a small rented house, while another set of students of the same college has classes in two rooms of a government school located nearby.

The college students staged a protest on Thursday as the college, which was sanctioned a decade ago, still has not got its building. One of the students said they were often asked to move from the school to a rented house located about 400 metres away.

Construction of the college building ran into legal hurdles in 2013 and was stopped midway. The students, along with officer-bearers of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), staged the protest and demanded the intervention of the Department of Collegiate Education.
