The Goa government may conduct a fresh study to find out the cause behind the rise in number of patients from Canacona taluka who are diagnosed with kidney ailments, the Legislative Assembly was told today.
"Two agencies had conducted a survey in the part, but the reports were inconclusive. If you want, fresh surveys can be initiated through the World Health Organisation or any agency," Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told the House while responding to a question tabled by the Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco.
The minister assured the House the Health department will inquire into a complaint that kidney patients were being administered dialysis at an early stage at the Canacona health centre, when it was supposed to be given at the late stage.
Rane said the total of 57 patients from Canacona taluka have been on dialysis during the last two years.
