Way cleared for recruitment process

A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court compromising Justice C. V. Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice G. Shyam Prasad on Wednesday stayed the operation of the orders of single judge who suspended the GO 1274 which reserved all posts in 500 institutions run by various welfare departments of Telangana.

The Bench was dealing with a writ appeal filed by Telangana State. The government issued GO No1274 in June 2017 declaring that all posts in the residential institutions for girls shall be reserved for women candidates only. The posts in the institutions meant for boys are declared as general open posts. This was challenged by Satyanarayana and another. They said they are unemployed and qualified to hold the post of lecturers in the junior colleges etc. The Telangana government is running residential schools junior colleges etc., for girls under ST welfare, Minority welfare, BC welfare and Social welfare departments. Nearly 500 institutions are running for girls. All the posts in all these institutions are now reserved for women only by this GO. Single judge suspended the GO and stayed the recruitment process and now the Bench revived the GO paving the way for recruitment process. Case will be listed on August 9.
