Mentha oil futures slide 0.95% on profit-booking

Mentha prices moved down by 0.95 per cent to Rs 1,127.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits, triggered by fading demand from consuming industries at the spot markets.

Also, ample stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions fuelled the downtrend.


At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for delivery in August fell by Rs 10.80, or 0.95 per cent, to Rs 1,127.50 per kg, in a business turnover of 445 lots.

Similarly, the for delivery in September traded lower by Rs 10.80, or 0.94 per cent, to Rs 1,139 per kg in 88 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by participants, fall in demand from consuming industries at existing levels in spot market against ample stocks position on higher supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly weighed on mentha prices at futures trade.
