Yet another person died in an accident caused by a sand lorry in Sircilla district and the Government is still trying to shield the sand mafia behind such accidents, Telangana Pradesh Congress Pradesh (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged. Mr. Reddy said that Shankar, a dalit belonging to Pothugal village of Mustabad mandal succumbed to injuries after a sand-laden lorry hit him. He said Shankar was first taken to the Area Hospital and in view of his deteriorating condition was shifted to NIMS where he succumbed to injuries. “Another dalit family lost its bread earner due to the negligence of the Government. When will Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao wake up from his slumber? How many more people will be sacrificed for the sake of sand mafia?” asked Mr. Reddy.
The TPCC chief further alleged that the sand mafia was enjoying the full patronage of ruling TRS party and KCR family. “On an average, one person is getting killed in every 10 days in Sircilla due to illegal vehicles of sand mafia. Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao was elected by the people of Sircilla, but he is not protecting their lives,” he said.
He said that the Congress party had already furnished documentary evidence to prove that KCR’s close relative Santosh Rao was behind the sand mafia.
