Tom Brady Is Now Cooking Rob Gronkowski's Meals and Changing His Workout Routine

The Patriots' tight end is the latest to sign on to Brady's famously strict training regimen

August 1, 2017

Tom Brady has been carefully following a controversial training program set up by his trainer Alex Guerrero for a number of years. And despite bizarre practices such as avoiding tomatoes like the plague and "cheat days" of avocado ice cream, something seems to be working—the future Hall of Fame quarterback is two days from turning 40 and is showing no signs of slowing down. Though, let's be clear, that can likely be attributed more to Brady's natural ability than Guerrero's completely unscientific nutritional philosophy.

Still, Rob Gronkowski, known as both the NFL's most popular party boy and one of the most injury-prone tight ends in the league, decided to give it a shot. After all, despite a 12-year age difference, Gronk, 28, is looking a hell of a lot closer to retirement than the quarterback, who honestly may or may not be a vampire.

Sick of spending Super Bowls on the sidelines, Gronk decided to take a leaf out of Brady's book. He's spent the past 12 weeks following a diet and exercise plan carefully supervised by Tom's guru himself, the notorious Guerrero. The changes in his workout have placed a heavy emphasis on stretching, and, yes, this is that very same diet Tom follows that says coffee and alcohol are off-limits.

"Just looking at Tom, seeing what he does every day, what he eats, talking to him, personally on-on-one, just learning about the body with him, just seeing how flexible he is, how pliable he is... I just felt like it was the time in my career where I needed to devote myself at all levels," Gronkowski told the Boston Herald.

And despite what we all might be thinking, Gronk has been doing "a great job" adapting to the training and diet, according to Guerrero. Apparently, Guerrero and Gronk have set up a deal to help curb his alcohol intake, because let's face it, we've seen Gronk shirtless this year more often than not. Gronk has to drink three glasses of water for every alcoholic drink he consumes, to "offset the ramifications." No doubt, he's one of the most hydrated guys in football by now.

So, he's figured out a way around alcohol. As far as the rest of the diet goes, Gronk claims to have yet another arrangement worked out, this time with Brady himself: "Tom's my chef. I told him I'm only eating them if you have them ready for me. And he said, 'Deal.'"
