“After Deepavali, many crackers (leaders) in Congress and BJP will start bursting to join the Janata Dal (Secular),” said A.H. Vishwanath, of the JD(S), to presspersons here on Monday. “The Congress government is at the end of its term. MLAs will be keen on getting their work done and after Deepavali, many a leader will be joining JD(S),” he reitereated.
Defending his decision to quit Congress, with which he has a four decade association, Mr. Vishwanath said he was disillusioned by how the Siddaramaiah government appeared to be in a deep slumber. He said the government was not taking any steps to curb corruption or protect land, water and natural resources of the State.
