Medical tests at MCH through PACS

more-in

The Medical College hospital has invested in PACS (picture archiving and communication system) for easy storage, retrieval and management of diagnostic images.

It has also started a system wherein, patients can receive their lab results through an SMS service.

The PACS system has been set up primarily to help out the patients reaching the emergency wing.

The diagnostic image taken by X-ray/CT scan or MRI scan is directly made available on a computer monitor for the doctor to examine and write his diagnosis.

The image need be printed only if the doctor instructs so. The image can be archived and retrieved whenever required.

The service is being made available at the Orthopaedics, Surgery and Medicine departments now.

Patients can now receive the results of serum or pathology samples at HDS, Biochemistry and Pathology labs through phone by SMS, as soon as the results are ready. These results will be available on the computers in wards too and can be retrieved by entering the patient identity number and details.

A mobile app is also being developed for the use of doctors for easy access to information on patients.
