Party state president visits victims in district jail

The Bharatiya Janata Party State unit would continue its agitation, political and legal, till the Dalits and other victims of police torture at Nerella and Jillela villages in Rajanna-Sircilla district got justice, said BJP state president K. Laxman.

Mr. Laxman was in Karimnagar town on Tuesday and visited the Karimnagar district jail to interact and console the police torture victims.

Talking to mediapersons later, Dr. Laxman expressed concern over brutal torture of the villagers by the police to appease the government.

He said that the High Court, State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and National SC/ST Commission were looking into the issue.

He said that they would lodge a complaint with the Centre against the State government after collecting the report by the National SC/ST Commission on the incident.

Treatment costs

Expressing shock over the ill-treatment of poor Dalits and others by the police who subjected them third degree torture, he demanded that the government provide corporate hospital treatment to all the victims, who sustained internal and external injuries.

Flaying the state government for not responding to the plight of Dalits and other villagers, he asked why the government had not taken any action against the officials responsible for the high-handed behaviour by the police.

‘Teach them a lesson’

The people of the state would not excuse the TRS government and would teach it a fitting lesson, he said.

Stating that the democracy is at stake in Telangana, he asked who gave the police the right to beat the innocent people mercilessly and cause bleeding injuries.Even during the Telangana statehood movement, the people were not harassed by the police, he recalled.

BJP district president K Srinivas Reddy, leaders Edavelli Vijayender Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Bethi Mahender Reddy and others were present.
