Three persons have been arrested for allegedly luring people to make online in fake policies, the police said today.

Upon interrogation, it was found that they had prior work experience in working with the call centres of some companies.

Seepu Singh (26) was arrested on July 28 while Mohit Bhardwaj (27) and Bhusan(24) were arrested later based on information provided by Singh, DCP, North West, Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said.

Six mobile phones, a passbook in the name of Ram Lal, three chequebooks of different accounts, a fake voter ID card, a PAN card and misc debit cards were seized from them.

During interrogation, it was found that the accused earlier worked at various call centers of companies and hence they were well aware about the sector, Dumbnere said.

Explaining their modus operandi, he said there were two functionaries who would induce the customers through phone calls for making investment online through NEFT and they were asked to deposit money in bank accounts.

"Those who used to make phone calls convincing people took major share of the money, while leaving the rest to fake account holders," the officer said.

The invested amount was withdrawn immediately through ATMs at different places, he added.
