Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao on Monday reviewed the state of readiness of the Puducherry airport ahead of the resumption of flights from August 16.

With SpiceJet scheduled to operate daily Hyderabad-Puducherry flights on that date, Mr. Rao, accompanied by Chief Secretary Manoj Parida and other officials, surveyed the preparations for launching pre-paid taxi services and buses connecting the airport to the city for the benefit of passengers.

The working of the conveyor belt and adequacy of passenger facilities at the check-in counters was examined. Modalities of the public function to mark the resumption of air connectivity in Puducherry were part of the discussions, Mr. Parida said.

Flight services were resuming in Puducherry under the Centre’s UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik).
