The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Deputy Managing Director, R. Amalorpavanathan, said the Union Government had entrusted them with the job of computerising all the 63,000 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) in the country and integrate them with the core banking system of the respective district cooperative central banks.

He said the Union Government had allocated ₹1,900 crore for computerisation of all the PACSs in three years. On a pilot basis, six PACS have been taken up for computerisation in the erstwhile Karimnagar district. Mr. Amalorpavanathan along with NABARD Chief General Manager P. Radhakrishnan, General Manager Satya Prasad and others visited the Gattu Duddenapalli PACS in Manakondur mandal and inspected the work. He expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Gattu Duddenapalli PACS which was providing over 28 services to the locals.

Stating that the Karimnagar district emerged a model in computerisation of the PACS, he said they were examining the possibilities of providing a common software to prevent its hacking and protect the data.

He said computerisation would benefit farmers in having access to their accounts and they would receive alerts on various aspects of their relationship with the PACS thereby enhancing their faith and dependency on the PACS.

The Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank (TSCAB) Chairman K. Ravinder Rao said they have taken up computerisation of all the 798 PACS under the nine DCCBs in the State. He said they have already issued 1.10 lakh kisan credit cards in the district. NABARD AGM Ravi Babu, DCCB CEO Satyanarayana Rao and others were also present.
