The Telangana Electricity Employees' Joint Action Committee has requested the Congress not to harm the interests of 20,903 outsourced employees working for the four power utilities in the State and ask its activists to withdraw the public interest litigation filed against their absorption.
Chairman of the electricity employees JAC N. Sivaji said on Monday said a PIL was filed by a Congress activist in the High Court to stall the process of the outsourced employees’ absorption, which he said was in the final stages. The outsourced employees had been working for the development of power utilities for two-three decades and denying them their due benefit was inhuman, he said.
The electricity employees’ organisations would meet on Tuesday to decide their action plan to counter the situation likely to arise out of the PIL. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao signed the file pertaining to the outsourced employees’ absorption on Saturday.
