The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on BBMP to be paid to Kavitha Podwal, a resident of Doddanekkundi, whose house was demolished by the civic body without issuing any notice to her.
A division bench, comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar, directed the BBMP commissioner to hear the matter.
The bench said that if the commissioner comes to the conclusion that the demolition of the dwelling house was illegal, he will have to quantify the damage and pay it within two weeks from the date of the order.
