Conspiracy to hike power tariff in Delhi: AAP

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

The today alleged there was a "conspiracy" to increase power tariff in the national capital and vowed to oppose any such move.

Saurabh Bharadwaj, chief spokesperson of AAP's unit, said power tariff has been consistently increasing since 2011.

"We have learnt from media reports and also from our sources that there is a conspiracy to hike the rates. Power discoms, too, have petitioned the Electricity Regulatory Commission to increase the tariff," he said.

The DERC takes a call on whether to allow power discoms to hike the tariffs.

He said a group of MLAs had earlier this month petitioned the DERC against hiking the tariff.

"Our stand is clear. We, as a party, and also the will oppose any hike in power tariff in Delhi," Bharadwaj added.
