Miki Migdal, president of the NICE Enterprise Product Group, a big data firm listed Nasdaq, talks to BW Businessworld's Ashish Sinha about the growing importance of its India Global Talent Center at Pune, NICE's largest site outside its Israel headquarters.

Excerpts of the conversation

Why did you choose India for your R&D centre?

We believe that India offers a very large talent pool that can support our global leadership and growth. The India Global Talent Center (GTC) is NICE’s largest site outside of  its Israel headquarters. With over 650 engineers on site, this talent pool continues to grow at a rapid pace supporting all functions, products and regions.

What kind of  development work goes on at the NICE India R&D centre?
NICE delivers a diverse portfolio of cloud and on-premises enterprise software solutions to a range of industries, including telecom, insurance, financial services and BPOs. This requires a talent pool with a range of skills. Our employees excel in areas such as software development, telecommunications support, and data analytics and support a diverse set of industries right out of the Pune office.

How does the Pune centre support NICE’s global footprint?
The Pune GTC is one of our key talent centres which offers end-to-end support for NICE’s business operations in over 150 countries around the world. It is a very important part of our global operations. At the Pune GTC we do product development, customer support, professional services, IT, and network operations. Our teams in India make important contributions to the success of NICE’s global operations. The product groups have full ownership of product innovation, including design, architecture, and development, quality assurance, and product documentation.

The Professional Services teams and Technical Support teams, also based at the Pune centre, provide customer support in all regions.

How do you view Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel?
The recent visit of  Prime Minister Modi signified the strengthening of the relationship between Israel and India. This can only have a positive impact on our business in the region. NICE has already made great investments in India, and we will continue to invest in the coming years. India is extremely important to our overall operations and our association will only continue to grow.

How do you plan to scale up your presence in India?

We are committed to our investment in the Pune Global Talent Center, and will continue to grow our teams there, both organically and via acquisitions. The teams there have been integral to NICE’s product strategy across many lines of  business, and will continue to play a key role in our business strategy.
