Former Police Commissioner says it reinforced people’s ‘confidence’ in the force

The former Police Commissioner Praveen Sood believes that cracking the Kammanahalli molestation case was one of the highlights of his seven-month tenure.

Sleuths found the culprits using just CCTV footage. Talking to mediapersons on Monday, Mr. Sood said the incident that took place on January 1 was captured on CCTV camera. The police took a suo motu case. Solving the case had reinforced people’s ‘confidence’ in the force. “It was only two months later, after arrest of the accused and with investigation in the final stages that we contacted the woman. Till then, we had only the video to go by,” he said.

He said his focus as commissioner was to improve citizen-friendly initiatives, including Namma 100 and Suraksha app.

“We were even thinking of an app that would allow citizens to file complaints for motor vehicle theft without entering a police station,” he said.
