SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal today accused the Congress-led government in Punjab of "implicating" Akali workers in "false" cases and said the party "will not allow any injustice" to happen to its workers.
Hitting out at the Amarinder Singh-led dispensation, he alleged that the Congress government has failed to honour even a single promise it had made to the voters ahead of the Assembly polls.
"I met (Akali) workers in a meeting here to listen to their grievances. A lot of our workers are being implicated in false cases by the state government. Today I met a dozen such workers here who have been wrongly booked by the police," Badal said here.
He said that many SAD workers had claimed that they were booked by the police in false cases on the behest of Congress MLAs.
"We will ask officials concerned if any excesses and injustices have been done with our workers. We have formed a committee of advocates and will provide legal help to party workers whenever the need arises," the former chief minister said, adding, "We will not allow any injustice with our workers."
Yesterday, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal had reportedly said in Gurdaspur that his party was in the process of filing a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, seeking action against police officials who were "implicating his party workers in false cases on the behest of the ruling party MLAs."
Parkash Singh Badal today said he will meet Akali workers in Chandigarh for four days every month to listen to their grievances and problems.
He also hit out at the Congress government alleging it has "failed" to honour even a single promise made to the people before the Assembly elections earlier this year.
On the farm loan waiver issue, Badal said, "They (Congress) used to talk about debt waiver. Not a single farmer's debt has been waived. Rather farmers suicides have been on rise in the state."
"The government has failed to generate even a single job opportunity for the youths in the state," he alleged.
On the issue of Goods and Services Tax on 'langar', Badal said, "It is the job of state finance minister Manpreet Badal to take up the matter with the GST council and get langar exempted from the GST.
