Wedded to the Special Category Status cause, says party chief

Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan on Monday said political parties have their own strengths and the strength of his party would be known once he gets in touch with the masses, which would be his priority after two months from now.

He stated this in response to a question whether JSP would tie up with the YSR Congress or TDP for the 2019 elections and quipped that he would be happy if his party could make an impact of 1 to 2 % as suggested by a survey.

On Special Category Status (SCS), Mr. Kalyan said the issue had been diluted and confined to social platforms but he did not give up.

“The Chief Minister and the YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy might have their own compulsions, but I will take it up in an objective manner with the Central government in a month or two,” he said. On the Nandyal by-election, Mr. Kalyan said it was an election being conducted under special circumstances and that he would let his stand known in a couple of days.

The JSP leader said he did not visit Garagaparru to console the victims of discrimination as it would have given scope for creation of disturbances by anti-social elements mixing up with his supporters.

“It is unfortunate that Alluri Sitarama Raju and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar were identified with particular castes whereas both of them had fought against injustice without any personal prejudices,” he asserted.
