In a suspected case of honour killing, a youth allegedly hacked his sister and friend to death in a village in Haryana's Sirsa district, police said today.

The accused suspected that his sister was having an affair with the boy who lived in the neighbourhood and in a fit of rage committed the crime.

The deceased youth Sonu (22), who hailed from a village in Abohar in Punjab, was living with his aunt in the village in Sirsa for the past two years following his mother's demise, SHO of Bara Gudha police station, Inspector Kanwar Singh said.

Both Sonu and the accused Singh (20) were friends, Singh added.

Sonu visited Hardeep's house today where the latter was not present at that time. Hardeep's sister, Suman (22), however, was at the house.

Both were having a conversation in a room when saw them. This infuriated him.

"While Suman died at the spot, Sonu succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital," Singh said.

The accused is absconding and efforts were being made to nab him, he added.
