A journalist was allegedly misbehaved with and later detained at Vijay Chowk on Sunday. Arvind Gunasekar said he was driving to his office in INS building after lunch when he stopped at a signal at Vijay Chowk.
“I noticed some chaos and thought it was the Tamil Nadu farmers protesting. On seeing another group instead, I alerted my video journalist and tried to click pictures,” he said.
At that, a policeman dragged him towards a police bus. Mr. Gunasekar, who works for a Tamil TV channel, said repeated clarifications went ignored. “None of the policemen listened to me. One took my glasses off and threw them out of the bus. I was let off at Mandir Marg,” he said.
A senior police officer said no complaint had been filed. Mr. Gunasekar, however, said the DCP concerned had assured him of action.
