The state today held the (AAP) responsible for non-formation of governing bodies in 28 University-affiliated colleges, whose funding was freezed by the Kejriwal-led dispensation over the issue.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today directed the department to freeze the release of funds to 28 colleges following non formation of the governing bodies.

Sisodia alleged that the University (DU) is "not willing" to have governing bodies in these colleges.

Meanwhile, president Manoj Tiwari alleged that governing bodies in the colleges were not formed because the was pushing for the entry of its workers.

"The formation of the governing bodies is pending for quite long as the Kejriwal instead of nominating persons of intellect and proven academic record has sent names of its party activists that do not match the DU guidelines," he said.

Leader of Opposition in Assembly Vijender Gupta claimed that the move will "jeopardise" the future of 50,000 students enrolled in the affected 28 colleges.

"The had promised to open 20 new colleges. But it has failed to open a single new college so far, it has brought 28 DU colleges to the brink of closure," he said.

Gupta alleged that has sent "controversial" names for nominations to the governing bodies.

"Since had sent a number of controversial names which did not meet the required norms and the governing bodies could not being finalised by DU," he claimed.
