A fisherman, Premnath (30), on board a countryboat, is feared drowned after the boat capsized in sea near Meenakaliya in Baikampady here on Sunday.
According to the police, seven fishermen, including Premnath, had sailed out in the countryboat belonging to Ashok Mendon.
It was among the many countryboats that had left the shore for fishing on Sunday morning.
Following strong winds, Ashok Mendon’s boat capsized and the fishermen on board were stuck in the sea.
Fishermen in another countryboat rescued six of them.
The Coastal Security Police, the Coast Guards and the local fishermen have launched a search for the missing fisherman.
