Copper, nickel move up on global cues, spot demand

Prices of copper and nickel went up by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today, tracking a firm trend overseas amid pick up in demand from consuming industries.

Traders said apart from a firm trend overseas, uptick in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market mainly led to rise in copper and nickel prices.


Globally, copper for delivery in three-month rose by 1.2 per cent to USD 6,400 per tonne at the Metal Exchange (LME).

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel rose by Rs 2 each to Rs 362 and Rs 797-807 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 106-112, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 797-807, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 362, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 100, lead imported Rs 106, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
